Class 8

Welcome to our Class 8 Page!

Your child’s teacher is going to be Mrs Britton and our class teaching assistant is
Mrs Dibbo. We are all very excited for your child to join us and are looking forward to learning together in our new class!

Meet your Teachers

I have been a teacher at Thrybergh Primary School since 1997. For most of that time I have taught in Year Six, and to be honest I love teaching year 5 and 6. My most favourite subject to teach is maths, followed closely by Science, P.E. and history.

I live with my husband, Craig and my 12-year-old daughter, Darcie. We also have a rescue greyhound from Owlerton track called Rodney and two very badly-behaved terriers – Marley and Buster. We also have Bobby the Degu so it’s a bit like a zoo at our house.

Darcie and I love horse riding and we have two ponies who take up a lot of our time. My other interests include reading my favourite books which are, To Kill a Mocking Bird, Great Expectations and the Inspector Ryan series by J.L.Ross. As a family we love to go to Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby and the Isle of White using our little touring caravan.

Our New Learning

Next year will be very exciting in year Six we have great topics:

World War 2 in the autumn term, Rainforest in the spring term and Coast to Coast in the summer term which includes our amazing residential visit to Scarborough.

Class Information

This is given out every Friday and needs to be handed in by the following Wednesday. Please ensure that you do your homework as it ensures that you get extra practise of what we are learning at school. Homework will normally consist of spellings and some maths work. Children will also have a termly topic project to complete which hopefully will encourage them to be imaginative and creative.

We ask children to practise their reading book for 10 minutes each night as this will help them to become more fluent and confident readers.

We take part in PE lessons each week and ask children to arrive in their PE kit.

They will need both an indoor and an outdoor kit.

We will be in touch to arrange your child’s PE days once they are settled back into school.
