This half term, in Art, we have been learning to blend and layer pastels. This week, we applied our skills when working hard to to replicate the work of famous pastel artists such as Edgar Degas, Mary Cassatt, Pablo Picasso and Jean Francois Millet.
Y3/4 enjoyed a visit from The History Detectives from Sheffield University who taught us about The Civil Rights Movement. We learnt some really interesting facts but The History Detectives were so impressed with how much we already knew!
Last week was British Science Week and the theme this year was ‘Growth’! We learnt about Mars and how rovers are being used to explore the possibilities of life there. The children who entered our World Book Day competition to create a potato character or a story in a jar were awarded their prize in assembly this week! We hope you all enjoy reading your lovely new books!

This week we have really enjoyed reading The Hodgeheg by Dick King Smith. We’ve only read three chapters so far but we’re already hooked and we can’t wait to read on next week to see what happens to Max next!
Y3/4 are working hard in their computing lessons. They’re learning how to use Scratch Jr and devise their own visual language to allow them to design their own projects. The children are having to think creatively and reason systematically. Keep up the good work!
Last week in Art we have been learning about famous pastel artists such as Edgar Degas, Pablo Picasso, Jean-Francois Millet, and Mary Cassatt. We have enjoyed looking at a range of different pastel drawings by each artist and comparing them to one another.
This week in gymnastics the children have been learning to jump off apparatus safely. The children practised performing pencil jumps, star jumps and tuck jumps off two benches of different heights.
We had a wonderful day celebrating reading and the magic of stories on World Book Day! We enjoyed listening to some of our favourite stories and reading to each other.
