Last week, Year 6 began exploring their new class book, ‘Holes’ by Louis Sachar. To start their writing journey, pupils discovered a burlap sack filled with items belonging to Stanley Yelnats, including soap, orange overalls, stationery and stamps. They explored each item and used the clues to find out more about Stanley and his life.
The soap wasn’t a favourite, and the orange overalls certainly proved challenging! Pupils also wondered whether Stanley’s mum had given him the stationery and stamps so he could write to her. It was a fun way for pupils to step into Stanley’s shoes and begin to understand his experiences. Well done, Year 6!
