Yesterday, Year 5 and 6 enjoyed an incredible visit to Eden Camp in Malton. This was formerly a real World War II prisoner of war camp. The museum brought history to life through its amazing interactive exhibits, giving students the chance to step back in time and experience what life was really like during the war.
The children explored everything from life on the home front, rationing, and “make do and mend”, to the dramatic effects of the Blitz. Some of the displays were so realistic that it felt as though they were actually living through an air raid!
A definite highlight for many was exploring the air raid shelters – though most agreed they wouldn’t have wanted to spend a full night inside one!
This visit is part of Wickersley Partnership Trust’s Enrichment Promise, which ensures all students have opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, gain new experiences, and deepen their understanding of the world around them.
Everyone had a brilliant day, showing curiosity, enthusiasm, and a real thirst for knowledge throughout.
Well done, Year 5 and 6!
