Mr Wilson

Meet your teachers

Miss Lowe

Hello Year 4/5!
I’m Miss Lowe and I am so excited to be your class teacher this year! Some of you I’ve already had the pleasure of teaching in Year 3 – and for those new faces, I can’t wait to get to know you!

When I’m not in the classroom, I love heading out on long countryside walks with my cheeky Labrador, Bernie, or spending time laughing with my friends and family. I’m also a massive Formula 1 fan – you’ll definitely hear me cheering for McLaren on the weekends! And if you ever need a Harry Potter trivia teammate… I’m your witch! 🧙‍♀️ My absolute favourite time of year is Halloween – get ready for some spooky fun!

This year, we’re going to dive into all sorts of exciting learning adventures together. I’ll be your class teacher, but during the mornings I’ll be teaching English and Maths to the Year 5s, while Mr Wilson will be working with the Year 4s. Then we’ll all be back together for afternoons filled with topic learning, creativity, and fun.

We’re going to laugh, learn, and grow together — I can already tell it’s going to be an amazing year in Year 4/5!

Mr Wilson

Hello Class 4/5!
I qualified as a teacher in 2015 from Sheffield Hallam University. Before that, I attend the University of Hull and completed a degree in Sport, Exercise and Health Science.

I’ve enjoyed a rewarding career in primary education, working mainly in year 5 and 6. While PE remains a strong passion of mine, I enjoy teaching reading and maths the most and strive to make lessons engaging, supportive and inclusive for all learners. I believe in building strong relationships with children and helping them to grow in confidence, curiosity and independence.

Outside of school, I love all sports especially football (Liverpool supporter!) and tennis. I enjoy being active through running, going to the gym and walking in the Peak District. I also love spending time with family and friends and have a young daughter!

I’ll be teaching English and Maths to the Year 4s, while Miss Lowe will be working with the Year 5s.

Hello!
Most of you already know me as I have had the pleasure of working with you this year but here’s a little bit of information about myself. When I’m not at school I love spending time with my children and grandchildren. We love going out for day tips (we have lots of fun) and watching football and movies together. I love cold winter nights where we can sit snuggled up watching movies. Christmas is my favourite time of the year, I love baking Christmas cookies with my grandchildren and watching Christmas movies. I’m looking forward to be working along side Miss Lowe this year. I can’t wait to see you all in September.

School Day Times
Our school day begins promptly at 8:40am and finishes at 3:15pm.
Please arrive on time, ready to learn and make the most of each day.

Our Daily Routine
Each morning, we start with Reading, Writing, and Maths to build strong foundations.
The rest of the day is packed with creative, active, and hands-on learning across a wide range of subjects.

Reading in Class and at Home
We have a cosy Reading Corner in our classroom where children are encouraged to choose from a selection of high-quality class texts to enjoy throughout the week.

Reading every night at home is essential to support your child’s progress. We ask all parents to please sign up to BoomReader, our electronic reading diary, so we can easily keep track of home reading together.

Home Learning Tools
Children will be given logins for a range of exciting online learning platforms:

TTRockstars – to boost times tables recall

IXL – for extra practice in Maths and English

Lexia – to support reading and comprehension

Please encourage your child to use these at home regularly.

PE Kits
Please ensure your PE kit is in school every day, as we’ll be taking part in regular physical activity throughout the week.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, growing, and achieving together. Let’s make it the best year yet!

This year, our English lessons in Year 4/5 will take us on amazing adventures through books, films, drama, and writing. We’ll be exploring narrative, persuasive, explanatory and historical writing, learning how to adapt our style and voice to suit different purposes. From suspense-filled fiction to humorous explanations and persuasive letters that make a difference — your child will become a confident and thoughtful communicator.

Here’s a taste of what we’ll be working on:

Narrative Fiction – Beyond Adventure
Persuasive Writing – Make Your Voice Heard!
Explanations with a Twist – Cracking Contraptions!
Non-Chronological Reports – History with Humour
Formal Reports and Historical Essays – Writing Like a Historian
Diary Entries – Writing in Role

From suspenseful storytelling to persuasive power, and hilarious history to heartfelt diaries, this year’s reading and writing curriculum will stretch imaginations, build confidence, and create real pride in what pupils can achieve. Get ready for writing that wows!

Tackle real-life problems using shape, measurement, and statistics
Strengthen your reasoning and explain your thinking clearly
We’ll make maths fun, hands-on and full of those lightbulb moments!

We bring the world to your classroom through real-life topics and big questions:

In History, we’ll explore:
World War II – evacuation, the Blitz, and life on the home front
The powerful story of the 1984 Miner’s Strike and how it shaped communities
Migration in the 20th Century, connecting past to present

In Geography, you’ll investigate:
The cities of Europe and how people live and work in them
