Y5/6 Harvest Festival Art

Year 5/6 have begun to use pastels to create apple pictures for harvest festival. We have enjoyed learning to blend the colours and select colours that reflect the time of year!

Layering Colour

Y5/6 have been adding another layer of colour to their Caroline Appleyard paintings before finishing them with final detailed brushwork next week. We had a fantastic afternoon and the atmosphere in our class was brilliant with everyone enjoying their paintings. We really took some risks with the more vivid colours but we are getting superb […]

Exploring Division

Y5/6 have started to explore division. We have been using practical apparatus to group equally and we have been working really well with adults in school to understand how to split numbers equally. We definitely demonstrated the Thrybergh Way by never giving in with our Maths!

Air Resistance Tests

In Science, year 3/4 carried out an experiment looking at air resistance.  Air resistance is defined as the force that acts in the opposite direction to an object moving through the air. It is also known as “drag.” The magnitude of the force varies wildly from object to object.  The children worked incredibly hard and followed the […]

Black History Month Assembly

It was really interesting to learn about the achievements of black women in our society and we followed up the Assembly by researching cultural diversity in our class. We found out that we have class members with connections across the world from Sudan to Australia! […]

Do you know these UK Black Heroes?

Following on from our amazing Black History Month assembly, year 4/5 took part in a quiz called: ‘Do you know these UK black heroes?  The quiz included many iconic and inspiring individuals, highlighting the lives of nice inspiring Black Britons.  The children all followed the Thrybergh Way by showing respect and listening to others. Well done!

They studied the different types of techniques that can be used with oil pastels, including sgraffito, scumbling, tinting and cross-hatching. They then explored how the history of pastels is given to add context to this medium. Absolutely fantastic effort and […]

Y4/5 Do Orienteering

Today year 4/5 have taken part in an orienteering. Orienteering is an exciting outdoor adventure sport similar to a cross-country race. The difference is that it involves walking or running while navigating around a course. The children used a detailed map to reach set control points along the way. All children followed the Thrybergh Way […]

Y4/5 Learn Art

🎨This week in art we have started to think about Remembrance Day and how poppies represent those who have died in the many wars. We used our watercolour skills to paint a background before practicing drawing our poppies. We understand and respect the role of people who help and protect us.
